Some lunatic suggested we do a free for all topic with textures. Choose any subject you like and make a model of it. The model must be textured! Let's have a limit on the texture size to 512x512, so people with slower machines have a fair crack at the whip. This time, we'll have a screengrab or render of your model and also please post up your texture file as well. Let's try this first one without a need to have a unique texture space per part and have overlapping UVs allowed on this one, until we see how it goes. It might be good practice for the future to do future ones with unique UV mapping, but let's see how everyone gets on.

Time limit is one hour for modelling AND texturing.

Rules are:

You can prep beforehand, but the contest is aimed at people who don't have a lot of free time, so don't go too overboard on the time you spend - try to limit yourself to just time to search for some reference images or do a quick sketch. No oil paintings ;) .
All models must be created from scratch, no dipping into your library.
Time for modelling AND texturing is one hour only.
You can split your time up, doing 30 minutes one night and 30 minutes another night, any combination you want, as long as the total time isn't more than one hour.
Post your (un)finished model with a copy of the texture file you created.
You can use source material for your textures from the internet, as not all of us have a massive stash of pics.

I made it up completely. A Lynx Natural doesn't exist. I couldn't find any logos on the internet anyway.

OK, here's mine... A cowboy hat...

I tried to keep this as primitive as possible - just an extruded cylinder.
I did 2 UV maps - everything from above, then just the sides.

I then created a 1 colour texture sheet, added monochromatic noise, then a gaussian blur.
I drew 4 stitch holes, then copied to make a line, then added the stitches.
I then got the top set to line up, and then just copied and moved and saved and looked to get the others right.
A skylight render to finish

thoughts anyone?
