Hi all,

This contest will be an hour long and will be to create a diffuse texture. You can create a simple model for it to go on, or just do a texture, the choice is yours. Perhaps we'll do other map types for the next contest, as the alpha map seemed to bring up some questions.

Good luck!

Well I guess I'll start, I'm still sorta new to this but here is a simple 512x512 carpet texture. It took me ten minutes. Was going to try a panoramic skyline that could tile sideways for a skybox but I wasn't sure if that counts as a diffuse texture? If you guys say it can I might have a go at that for more difficulty ^^

OK, here's my sand texture - it took around 2 mins to complete...

I started with a flat colour - I added Noise (Gaussian, Monochromatic at 12%) then added new filter Blur, Gaussian Blur witha radius of 1 pixel - done.

Can you do one quicker?

Here's my sand texture, a small part from a larger original graphic. It's clouds with mono noise.

nice one chaps - I can't help thinking we may have taken the easy way out here :) lol

Anyway - where's the others guys (and Theia)? Climb out of your comfort zone and get cracking - it's the only way you'll improve!!!

Now I'm glad I didn't go with sand xD but the concept is the same I think. My carpet texture was just Clouds>Noise>Motionblur>Glowing edges>colorize. Slightly more steps but the same.

Hmmm, it's quite hard to come up with a texture without an object for it to be used on.

OK, here's a tile (as in masonry tile for your bathroom, not tile as in tilable texture). It took apparently half an hour:

It's a centrepiece tile, the rest wouldn't have the blue square and black lines.
